University accredited laboratory no 1030.2 is an independent part of the Department of Furniture, Design, and Habitation. In the testing room, it is possible to conduct all sorts of tests on wooden and upholstered furniture, to test mechanical, physical, and chemical characteristics of furniture, to determine the amount of methanal emissions and VOC according to the EU norms. Trial protocols are issued here and tests for a "Czech Quality" (Ceska kvalita) brand are carried out. The corresponding products certificates are issued in cooperation with a university testing room STV.
Set up in 1966, the furniture testing room was the first establishment of this kind in former Czechoslovakia. Nowadays, it is the only place in the Czech Republic where the under mentioned products and materials are being tested:
- Chairs
- Tables
- Box type furniture
- Upholstered furniture
- Materials for furniture fabrication
- Health hurtfulness (emissions measurements by formaldehyd chamber method in the WEISS chamber with volume of 40m3)
- Products examination in accordance with grant of authorization of a brand "Czech Made"
The accredited testing room stems its activities from Czech technical standards and accepted norms EN and ISO. The tests can be conducted according to the norms of foreign countries as well, and in special cases the reviews can be done with respect to the procedure agreed by the client. Based on the test of the accredited furniture testing institution, the relevant certificate is issued.
